With the launch of the all new Hyundai Santro and the top end model of Tata Tiago, the competition in the hatchback segment is on its peak. So, the new Maruti WagonR which was due for quite sometime now has been fully revealed and is all set to launch on 23rd January 2019. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR 2019 is 3655 mm , 1620 mm and 1675 mm in length, width and height respectively.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR 2019 will be longer as well as wider than the old WagonR and the Stingray. The wheelbase will be the same as Ignis. The new WagonR will also be lighter than the older version by around 6o kgs. It will get a fuel tank of 32 litres.
To compete with the feature rich hatchbacks like santro & tiago, the ZXi wagonR will get 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and the steering mounted controls. The standard features will be rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder, driver’s side airbag and ABS with EBD.
It will get two engine options which are 1.0 litre (68bhp/90Nm) three cylinder engine and the 1.2 litre (83bhp/113Nm) four cylinder engine which is already present in swift, baleno, ignis & dzire. Both the engines are mated to 5 speed manual & 5 speed automatic gearbox. A CNG option will also be available in WagonR but with the smaller engine only.
The new WagonR will cost around 4.3-5.6 lakhs and will come in 4 variants which are LXi, VXi, VXi+ and ZXi. The VXi variant will get 155/65 R14 tyres and ZXi variant will get 165/70 R14 tyres. It is expected to be based on the Heartect platform.
